What Mailwren - AI Mail App asks for, and why
Mailwren - AI Mail App replaces the mail app on your phone, so it has to connect to Gmail itself. During sign-in Google asks you to approve the permissions below — you grant them yourself, you can see each one at work in the app, and you can take them back at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

Read, send and manage your mail

This is the permission that lets Mailwren work as your mail app. It signs in to your mailbox over IMAP and SMTP, and everything below happens on your phone, in the screens shown here.
- shows your inbox, conversations, attachments and folders;
- sends the messages and replies you write, including AI drafts — the AI never sends anything on its own;
- marks as read, archives, moves and deletes messages the moment you ask;
- searches across your whole mailbox.
Gmail's narrower scopes do not allow IMAP/SMTP access, so a full mail client cannot run on them — that is why Mailwren asks for this one. Message bodies and attachments are fetched straight from Gmail to your device, never stored on Mailwren servers.
Mailwren's server subscribes to Gmail's new-message notifications so a new email can be pushed to your phone straight away, even when the app is closed. You see it as an Android notification with the sender and subject; the message itself is fetched on the device when you open it.
This scope exposes metadata only — headers, labels and timestamps. It gives the server no access to message bodies or attachments, and we never read the content of your email on our server. Notifications can be turned off per account in Settings.
Shows the address of the account you just added, labels it in the account switcher, and makes sure every message is sent from — and synced to — the right account. Only the address is used; it stays on the device.
The standard Google sign-in. It confirms to Mailwren that the account is yours; it does not give access to any of your data.
What Mailwren never does: no advertising based on your mail, no selling your data, no human reading your messages, and no access at all once you disconnect the account.
