This Privacy Policy explains how Mailwren ("Mailwren", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Mailwren mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Mailwren is an email client for Android that lets you connect one or more email accounts (such as Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Office 365 and AOL) and manage them in a single app. The App also offers AI-assisted features that help you write, summarize and translate email.

2. Information we collect

a. Email account and content

When you connect an email account, Mailwren accesses the contents of that account so it can function as your mail app. This includes your messages, subject lines, senders and recipients, attachments, labels/folders, and related metadata. For Google accounts this access is granted through the https://mail.google.com/ scope, which you approve during Google sign-in.

b. Information you provide to AI features

When you choose to use an AI feature (drafting, summarizing or translating), the relevant message text or the prompt you enter is processed to generate a result.

c. Device and usage information

We may collect limited technical information such as app version, device type, operating system version, language, and anonymous usage or crash diagnostics to keep the App working and to improve it.

3. How we use your information

To display your inbox, threads and attachments inside the App.
To let you compose, reply to, send, organize, and delete your email.
To power AI features you request, such as drafting replies, summaries and translation.
To search across your connected accounts.
To operate, maintain, secure and improve the App.
To respond to your support requests.

4. Google user data & Limited Use

Mailwren's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the App. We do not:

Transfer or sell this data to third parties for advertising, market research, or other unrelated purposes;
Use this data for serving advertisements; or
Allow humans to read this data, unless we have your consent for specific messages, it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymized.

5. AI processing

AI features are powered by trusted third-party AI service providers. When you use an AI feature, only the content needed for that request is sent for processing and returned to you as a result. This content is not used to train third-party AI models, and it is not retained beyond what is necessary to complete your request.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your email content or personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:

Service providers who process data on our behalf (for example, AI processing or crash diagnostics) under confidentiality obligations and only as needed to provide the service.
Your email providers (Google and others) as required to send and sync your mail.
Legal compliance when required by applicable law or valid legal process.

7. Data retention

Your email is stored by your email provider, not by Mailwren. The App may cache messages on your device so it works quickly and offline. You can clear this cache or remove an account at any time, which deletes the associated locally stored data.

8. Security

Connections between the App and email or AI services use encryption in transit. Access to your accounts requires your explicit authorization and is protected by the credentials and tokens issued by your email provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Your choices and rights

You can disconnect any account from within the App at any time.
For Google accounts, you can revoke Mailwren's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
You can uninstall the App to stop all local processing and remove locally stored data.
You may contact us to request information about the data we process.

10. Children's privacy

Mailwren is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be highlighted within the App.
